Basketball Recap: Varnado Takes a Loss

Varnado lost against Springfield back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Varnado Wildcats took a blow against the Springfield Bulldogs, falling 69-27. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 126th).

Springfield's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cameron Culbertson, who went 9 of 17 on her way to 20 points in addition to five assists and five steals. The dominant performance gave Culbertson a new career-high in points. Nickaiya Martin was another key player, going 6 for 10 en route to 12 points and five steals.

Varnado now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Springfield, they pushed their record up to 12-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Varnado has already played their next game (against International), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Springfield has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against Riverside Academy.
