Kyler Sapp made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Edon is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-8 otherwise. Sapp was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Christian Owens was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

Edon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Hilltop hadn't done well against North Central recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Cadets blew past the Eagles 13-5. The result was nothing new for the Cadets, who have now won eight games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Like Edon, Hilltop also got a great game from a two-way player: Cameron Shimp. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. Shimp was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Devin Dempsey, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brady Wagner, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs.

Hilltop is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Edon, their record now sits at 12-8.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Edon has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Hilltop struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Edon came out on top in a nail-biter against Hilltop when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 4-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bombers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
