Preview: Leechburg Blue Devils vs. Serra Catholic Eagles
Leechburg has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Serra Catholic Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Leechburg suffered their biggest loss since December 8, 2023 on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 81-60 walloping at the hands of Riverview.
Jayden Floyd put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Mason Scitticatt was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Even though they lost, Leechburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Serra Catholic scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They walked away with a 90-82 victory over Aquinas Academy. The win was nothing new for Serra Catholic as they're now sitting on three straight.
Isiah Petty was his usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 15 points, 18 rebounds, and 13 assists. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Dumbroski, who scored 18 points.
Leechburg's defeat was their eighth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-11. As for Serra Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Leechburg was dealt a bruising 81-51 defeat at the hands of Serra Catholic when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Leechburg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
