Softball Recap: Mt. Eden Comes Up Short

Mt. Eden had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 6-6 to make it four. They came up short against the Castro Valley Trojans, falling 24-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Monarchs' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Castro Valley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games.

For Castro Valley's part, Adri Anderson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Anderson was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those hits were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Giselle De Casas was incredible, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alicya Robertson, who went 3-for-5 with four runs and three RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Eden will square off against Alameda at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Castro Valley, they will take on San Leandro at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
