Baseball Recap: Harlan's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Harlan dropped their record down to 16-11 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Whitley County Colonels, falling 11-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Colonels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-2 back in April.

Harlan saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Baylor Varner, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double. Chris Rouse was another, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Whitley County, they are on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 21 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 30-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games.

On Whitley County's side, Trey Walton looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Walton has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two hits in 16 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Whitley County let Caden Mountjoy and EJ Allen run wild. Mountjoy went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI, while Allen got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Those four RBI gave Mountjoy a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Nunley, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

As of now, neither Harlan nor Whitley County have any future games scheduled.
