Softball Recap: Estrella Foothills' Luck Changes for the Better on Tuesday

Estrella Foothills's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Agua Fria Owls, sneaking past 7-5. The Wolves have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Owls, too.

Ilse Penaloza Leyva made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other pitching news, Estrella Foothills got a great performance from Marissa Flippen as she pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.

Penaloza Leyva wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Annasi Dilley, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

With the victory, Estrella Foothills broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 3-18. As for Agua Fria, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-12.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Estrella Foothills beat the Owls by a score of 10-0 on Thursday.
