Volleyball Recap: Charleston Comes Up Short

Charleston lost against Mattoon on September 4th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Trojans fell 2-0 to the Greenwave. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Charleston was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-22.

Their offense was headlined by Sadie Phillips and Jade Bowers, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Charlie Milton and her eight assists.

Mattoon can attribute much of their success to Brooke Jobe, who had seven digs and four aces.

Charleston's defeat dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Mattoon, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-12 record this season.

Charleston has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 loss against Mt. Zion on the 2nd. As for Mattoon, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Mahomet-Seymour on the 2nd.
