Preview: Firelands Falcons vs. Oberlin The Phoenix
Firelands is 9-1 against Oberlin since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Firelands Falcons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Oberlin The Phoenix at 1:30 p.m. Hopefully Firelands is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Oberlin in Ohio (Firelands is ranked 346th, while Oberlin is ranked 749th).
Last Monday, Firelands beat Elyria 49-40.
Meanwhile, Oberlin's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their 11th straight loss. The match between Oberlin and Wellington wasn't particularly close, with Oberlin falling 50-35. Oberlin has not had much luck with Wellington recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.
Firelands has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Oberlin, they bumped their record down to 1-12 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight at home.
Firelands took their win against Oberlin when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 44-21. Will Firelands repeat their success, or does Oberlin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
