Basketball Recap: Cuthbertson Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Cuthbertson had won three straight games and Ethan Nelson did his part to make it four on Friday. The Cavaliers came out on top against the South Mecklenburg Sabres by a score of 70-62 for which the team can thank Nelson, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 11 boards. Nelson is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season.

When it comes to explaining why South Mecklenburg lost, don't look at Jim Gatehouse. Despite the final result, he went 9-for-18 on his way to 27 points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks. Anthony Davis also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Cuthbertson's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for South Mecklenburg, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Looking ahead, Cuthbertson won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Blythewood at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for South Mecklenburg, they and Greensboro Day School will face off at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. The Sabres will need to watch out since the Bengals have now posted at least 55 points in their last six games.
