Softball Recap: Perris' Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Perris brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They blew past the Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles 18-9 on Monday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Carina Castaneda, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kimberly Santoyo, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles.

Castaneda wasn't the only one making solid contact: Perris kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Perris' win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Desert Hot Springs, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Perris will be playing in front of their home fans against Rancho Christian at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Desert Hot Springs, they will head out on the road to face off against Cathedral City at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
