Basketball Recap: Corner Canyon's Loss Ends Eight-Game Winning Streak at Home

Corner Canyon entered their matchup against Copper Hills on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Corner Canyon Chargers received a blow as they fell 45-27 to the Copper Hills Grizzlies. The contest marked the Chargers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Corner Canyon lost, don't look at Sorrelle Nielsen. Despite the final result, she posted 14 points along with five boards and three steals. Addi Yeomans was another key player, putting up six points.

Copper Hills had a senior duo take command as Skylie Barker went 8 of 12 on her way to 18 points and seven rebounds and Ayla Marston put up 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Aspen Fraser, who had four points along with seven boards and four steals.

Corner Canyon's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-4. As for Copper Hills, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

Corner Canyon will head out to challenge Mountain Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Ridge is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.4 points per game this season. As for Copper Hills, they will take on Riverton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Copper Hills is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
