Softball Recap: Chopticon Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Chopticon dropped their record down to 16-2 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's eight-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. They fell just short of the Leonardtown Raiders by a score of 3-2. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Braves couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Leonardtown, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 18-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games.

For Leonardtown's part, Claire Radford spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. Radford has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Vanessa Brooks, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Tessa Gray, who went 2-for-5 with one stolen base and two RBI.

As of now, neither Chopticon nor Leonardtown have any future games scheduled.
