Softball Game Preview: North Hardin Trojans vs. Larue County Hawks

North Hardin is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Larue County is on a six-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Trojans will welcome the Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While North Hardin didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They had just enough and edged out Atherton 2-1.

Meanwhile, Larue County made easy work of Pleasure Ridge Park on Friday and carried off a 10-2 victory. Considering the Hawks have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Isabelle Hayes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits.

At the plate, Larue County let Emmaline Engle and Phoenix Bell run wild. Engle scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Bell scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those three runs gave Engle a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Warren, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Larue County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pleasure Ridge Park only posted a batting average of .200.

North Hardin has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Larue County, their victory bumped their record up to 12-1.
