Basketball Recap: Westlake Charter Extends Winning Streak to Three

Westlake Charter entered their tilt with Creative Connections Arts Academy on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Creative Connections Arts Academy Dragons 84-60. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Explorers just coasted through the last quarter.

Westlake Charter's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Quinones Fleeton, who went 12 of 20 on his way to 28 points along with six rebounds and three steals. With that strong performance, Fleeton is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. Brian Ash was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards.

Westlake Charter smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 29 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in six consecutive matchups.

Westlake Charter's victory bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Creative Connections Arts Academy, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-8.

Westlake Charter will head out on the road to face off against Fortune Early College at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Fortune Early College is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 73.6 points per game this season. As for Creative Connections Arts Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Esparto at 6:30 p.m. Creative Connections Arts Academy is on a four-game streak of home losses, Esparto a seven-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change.
