Basketball Recap: Tiarra Redding and Abagail Smith Secure Win for Englewood

Englewood hadn't done well against West Nassau recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Englewood Rams walked away with a 31-23 win over the West Nassau Warriors. For the Rams, this counts as revenge for the 40-32 victory the Warriors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2020.

Leading Englewood to victory were Abagail Smith and Tiarra Redding. Smith dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds, while Redding almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine steals. Smith is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Moriah Bellamy was another key player, putting up two points and six steals.

West Nassau's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Olivia Wiggins, who posted eight points. Another player making a difference was Morgan Middlebrooks, who had seven points.

Englewood's record now sits at 2-6. As for West Nassau, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Englewood will take on Mandarin in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Monday at. As for West Nassau, they will challenge Baldwin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
