            Softball Preview: Catoctin Cougars vs. Boonsboro Warriors        
        
		
        
        
            The Catoctin Cougars will challenge the Boonsboro Warriors at 4:30  p.m.  on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Boonsboro's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them  on Monday: Catoctin hadn't allowed a single  run the last four times they've hit the field. The Cougars' pitcher stepped up to hand Williamsport  a   10-0 shutout  on Friday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive  win against them.
 Taylor Smith was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she  kept things locked down with   no  earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than two  hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-3 with two  RBI and one  double.
 In other batting news,  Madison Ohler was  excellent,  scoring a  run while  getting on base  in all three of her plate appearances.  Bralyn West was another key player,  going 1-for-3 with two  runs and one  triple.
 Catoctin was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .478. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a  batting average of .318 or higher in four consecutive  games.
 Meanwhile,  there's no place like home for Boonsboro, who bounced back after a  loss on the road  on Monday. They put the hurt on Smithsburg with a sharp  11-1 victory on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Warriors considering their one-run performance the  matchup before.
 Boonsboro's win was  their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which  pushed their record up to 7-1. Those  home  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Catoctin, their win bumped their record up to 5-1-1.
 Catoctin might still be hurting after the  19-8 defeat they got from Boonsboro  when the teams last played  back in April of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
