Softball Recap: Friday's Defeat Ends Monterey's Winning Streak

It was a good run, but Monterey unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Clay County Bulldogs. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Wildcats couldn't push the score so high this time.

Alexandrea Novak spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

Monterey's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4-1. As for Clay County, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monterey will challenge Jackson County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Clay County, they will be playing at home against Clarkrange at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
