Softball Preview: Chartiers Valley Colts vs. Canon-McMillan Big Macs        
        
		
            Chartiers Valley is on  a  three-game streak of home wins, while Canon-McMillan is on  a  five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Colts will welcome the Big Macs  at 3:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Both come into the  game bolstered by wins in their previous  matches.
On Wednesday, Chartiers Valley needed a bit of extra time to put away Hampton. They narrowly escaped with a  victory as the  squad sidled past the Talbots  2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest  win the Colts have posted  since May 1, 2024.
Canon-McMillan came out on top against Bethel Park  on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fourth inning. The Big Macs took their   contest against the Black Hawks   9-4. The Big Macs haven't had any issues with the Black Hawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive  victory against them.
 Brooke Bumer looked comfortable as she  pitched three innings while giving up just two earned runs off   four  hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Skylah Steban, who  went 3-for-4 with one  home run, two  runs,  and one  stolen base. What's more,  she posted two  RBI, the most she's  had since back in March.  Hailey Swope was another key player,  going 2-for-4 with two  RBI, one  run,  and one  double.
 Chartiers Valley has  been performing  well recently as they've  won nine of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record  this season. The  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Canon-McMillan, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.
