Basketball Recap: Dayton Triumphs

Dayton hadn't done well against Lowry recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Dayton Dust Devils walked away with a 49-42 victory over the Lowry Buckaroos. For the Dust Devils, this counts as revenge for the 70-44 win the Buckaroos walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Lowry had strong showings from Jaden Jimenez, who posted ten points in addition to five assists and five boards, and Jovanny Cuevas, who went 5 of 11 en route to 10 points. The dominant performance gave Cuevas a new career-high in points. Matthew Casalez was another key player, putting up seven points.

The victory made it two in a row for Dayton and bumps their season record up to 12-4. As for Lowry, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season.

Dayton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 49-47 win against Churchill County on the 18th. As for Lowry, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 66-54 loss against Fernley on the 18th.
