The Perquimans Pirates will head out on the road to face off against the D.H. Conley Vikings at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Wednesday, Perquimans made easy work of North East Carolina Prep and carried off a 16-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Husky: they've now won eight in a row.
Maddux Thach made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Thach was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing Three bases. while going 4-for-4. He has become a key player for Perquimans: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise.

In other batting news, Jacob Askew and Sean Saunders did most of the damage at the plate: Askew went 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs, while Saunders scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance gave Askew a new career-high in RBI. Coley Drew also deserves some recognition as he hit his first doubles of the season.
Perquimans always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North East Carolina Prep only posted an OBP of .360.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask D.H. Conley). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Havelock a 13-0 shutout last Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Vikings sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
James Robinson looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Davis Bradley was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Stewart, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Perquimans pushed their record up to 7-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.3 runs. As for D.H. Conley, their record now sits at 6-1.
