Basketball Game Preview: Briarwood Academy Buccaneers vs. Brentwood War Eagles

Briarwood Academy hasn't had much luck against Brentwood recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. Both will face off at 1:30 p.m. without much rest having both just played. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Briarwood Academy beat David Emanuel Academy 41-35. Given the Buccaneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while the Eagles are ranked 503rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Brentwood won against Robert Toombs Christian Academy on Saturday with 55 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Brentwood came out on top against First Presbyterian Day by a score of 55-44. The win was familiar territory for the War Eagles who have now won three contests in a row.

Brentwood has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Briarwood Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.

Briarwood Academy came up short against Brentwood when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 60-52. Can Briarwood Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
