Softball Recap: Gouverneur's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to 14

Gouverneur entered their tilt with Potsdam on Friday with 13 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 14. They were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Sandstoners. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by eight runs or more this season.

Kendall Goodale made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Goodale was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashlyn Besaw, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Reese Nichols was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one run.

Gouverneur kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive contests.

Gouverneur's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Potsdam, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Gouverneur will venture away from home to take on Carthage at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Potsdam does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
