Football Recap: Florence Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Florence unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They had to suffer through a 28-0 loss at the hands of the Show Low Cougars. The Gophers haven't had much luck with the Cougars recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Brody Ramirez threw for 110 yards while completing 71.4% of his passes. Victor Juarez was his top target, picking up 52 receiving yards.

Jett Walker had a dynamite game For Show Low., rushing for 91 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries. Walker was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. Kash Perkins was another key player, rushing for 87 yards and one TD on only eight carries.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Florence will face off against Round Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Show Low, they will challenge Valley Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
