Baseball Recap: Easley's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Easley came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Travelers Rest Devildogs by a score of 8-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-4 back in March.

Levi Holcombe was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other pitching news, Trey Kicklighter looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

Back at the plate, Easley let Cooper Sears and Jonathan Sonderfan run wild. Sears scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Sonderfan scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those three hits gave Sears a new career-high. Aaron Tolbert was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases.

Easley pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Travelers Rest, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-11.

Coming up, Easley will welcome Mauldin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Travelers Rest, they will venture away from home to face off against Wade Hampton at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Devildogs are facing the Generals at the right time seeing as the Generals are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
