Football Recap: Cory-Rawson Comes Up Short

Cory-Rawson fell victim to Elgin and their airtight defense on Friday. They were outmatched by the Comets and fell 39-0. The loss leaves the Fighting Hornets still looking for their first win of the season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Elgin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Archer Johnston, who rushed for 120 yards and two scores on only 13 carries. With that strong performance, Johnston is now averaging an impressive 104 rushing yards per game. Jack Van Gundy helped out on the ground, rushing for 91 yards and a rushing touchdown.

Cory-Rawson's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Elgin, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cory-Rawson will face off against Waynesfield-Goshen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Fighting Hornets will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 27 points per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Elgin, they will take on Lucas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
