Basketball Game Preview: Mother McAuley Mighty Macs vs. Providence Catholic Celtics

The Mother McAuley Mighty Macs will square off against the Providence Catholic Celtics at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mother McAuley is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.5 points per game this season.

If Providence Catholic heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Mother McAuley took over last week. Mother McAuley came out on top against Lincoln-Way Central by a score of 50-38 on Tuesday. The win was nothing new for the Mighty Macs as they're now sitting on three straight.

It was another big night for Quinn Arundel, who went 8 for 16 on her way to 20 points and four steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Taji Alexa, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.

Meanwhile, Providence Catholic was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 48-43 to DePaul College Prep.

Providence Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Mother McAuley, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Mother McAuley beat Providence Catholic 58-46 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Does Mother McAuley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Providence Catholic turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
