Basketball Recap: Middletown Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

If Middletown was riding high fresh off their 65-30 takedown of Boonsboro last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Middletown Knights took a 75-56 bruising from the Williamsport Wildcats on Tuesday. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Knights this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 75-56 last Thursday.

Williamsport got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ceonta Wilmore out in front who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. With that strong performance, Wilmore is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Another player making a difference was Zay Oree, who went 9 of 15 on his way to 23 points.

Middletown's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-8. As for Williamsport, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-3.

Middletown didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 72-56 victory against Maryland School for the Deaf on the 5th. As for Williamsport, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Williamsport Wildcats face off against the Catoctin Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Williamsport knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 17 matches -- so hopefully Catoctin likes a good challenge.
