Basketball Recap: Willcox Comes Up Short

Willcox saw some tournament action on Saturday. They were beaten by the North Mustangs 72-39.

Willcox lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Addison Burright, who posted eight points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriela Galaz, who earned eight points.

North was led to victory by Ayanna Goode and Xxylina Flores. Goode dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten boards, while Flores went 7 of 9 on her way to 18 points along with six boards and five steals. Goode is trending in the right direction considering she's improved her point production for three straight games. Esefani Brunson was another key player, putting up eight points along with seven rebounds and five steals.

Willcox's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for North, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

Willcox didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 50-47 win against Benson on the 7th. As for North, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 80-15 victory against Washington on the 8th.
