Softball Recap: Athens Comes Up Short

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Athens and Hazel Green had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Golden Eagles fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The Golden Eagles have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Athens' defeat dropped their record down to 17-11. As for Hazel Green, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Athens wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 14-4 win against Muscle Shoals on the 8th. Hazel Green has also already played their next contest (against Lee), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
