The Rochester Warriors will face off against the Montesano Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
Rochester is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Pe Ell/Willapa Valley just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 15-6 to Pe Ell/Willapa Valley.
Layna Demers was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Cheyenne Justice, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one run.
Meanwhile, Montesano had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They blew past the Hawks 16-5. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 11 games by seven runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Ali Parkin, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Jaelyn Butterfield, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Montesano always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as College Place only posted an OBP of .360.
Montesano's victory bumped their record up to 15-4-1. As for Rochester, their loss dropped their record down to 10-4.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Rochester hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .381. However, it's not like Montesano struggles in that department as they've averaged .408. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
