Basketball Recap: Fairfax Lions vs. Woodson Cavaliers
Fairfax was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 47-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Woodson Cavaliers. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 11th).

Despite the loss, Fairfax still got an impressive performance from Cam Yingling, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards. Yingling's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Mike Malarkey, who posted eight points.
Woodson had a senior duo take command as Noah Limbago dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds and Theo Burke earned 11 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Corallo, who scored five points.
Fairfax's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Woodson, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.
Fairfax will venture away from home to challenge West Springfield at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Fairfax is facing West Springfield at the right time seeing as West Springfield is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Woodson, they will take on Forest Park in a tournament on Saturday.
