Football Recap: Chilton Skates Past Meridian with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chilton). They blew past the Meridian Yellowjackets, posting a 75-0 victory. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 365th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 1177th) , the win on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Marneko Thomas Jr., who rushed for 67 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 41 receiving yards.

Thomas Jr. was just one part of a punishing run game: Chilton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 463 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 167 rushing yards in nine consecutive contests.

Chilton's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Meridian, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Looking ahead, Chilton will take on Clarksville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meridian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
