Baseball Game Preview: Lowell Red Devils vs. La Porte Slicers

Lowell hasn't had much luck against La Porte recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Red Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Slicers at 10:00 a.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Lowell fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Kankakee Valley on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Kougars by a score of 3-2. The Red Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lowell saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brett Beardsley, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, La Porte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Valparaiso.

Lowell's loss dropped their record down to 8-11-1. As for La Porte, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-14.
