After a string of four wins, The Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 24-7 to Lumberton. Having soared to a lofty 35 points in the game before, Little Cypress-Mauriceville couldn't push the score so high this time.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lumberton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaddon Ward, who rushed for 200 yards and a touchdown while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Ward was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 63 yards. Lucas Powell was another key contributor, throwing for 213 yards and a touchdown.
Little Cypress-Mauriceville's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Lumberton, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-3.
Little Cypress-Mauriceville will face off against Hargrave at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lumberton, they will be playing at home against Livingston at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Livingston will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 535th, while Lumberton is ranked 194th).
