The Faith Christian Patriots will face off against the Clayton Comets at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Faith Christian will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Saturday, then bounced right back against Raleigh HomeSchool on Monday. The Patriots blew past the Hawks 12-2.
Colson Gay made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (two). He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base.

In other pitching news, Noah Mayo looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Vincent Wilson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Ayden Tyndall was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Clayton got themselves on the board against Smithfield-Selma on Monday, but Smithfield-Selma never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over the Spartans. The win continues a trend for the Comets in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won eight in a row.
Like Faith Christian, Clayton also got a great game from a two-way player: Sam Narron. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Narron was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.
In other pitching news, Chris Crisostomo looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
Back at the plate, Clayton got a massive performance out of Landon Evans, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Jennings Dunlap, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Faith Christian's victory bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Clayton, their win bumped their record up to 12-7.
