Softball Recap: LEE's Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

LEE came into Saturday's game having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against the SA Roosevelt Rough Riders on Saturday as they made off with a 16-3 win. The Volunteers' offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last six games.

Liliana Ramirez made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was even better at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, LEE got a massive performance out of Isabella Salinas, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave Salinas a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alayna Castellano, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

LEE's victory bumped their record up to 2-17. As for SA Roosevelt, they are on a 28-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-14.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. LEE will challenge rival Johnson at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, SA Roosevelt is set to take on their familiar foe Churchill at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
