Soccer Game Preview: Phoebus vs. Menchville

Phoebus hasn't had much luck against Menchville recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Phantoms are taking a road trip to challenge the Monarchs at 4:00 p.m. Phoebus has given up an average of 4.1 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Phoebus came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 6-1 to Woodside. While losing is never fun, Phoebus can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 249th, while Woodside are ranked 101st).

Meanwhile, Menchville entered their tilt with Bethel on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They never let the Bruins get on the board and left with a 5-0 win. Menchville might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by three goals or more this season.

Menchville's victory bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Phoebus, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.

Phoebus suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Menchville in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Phantoms avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
