Piedmont is 9-1 against Hayward since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Highlanders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Farmers at 4:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Piedmont had taken Saint Mary's down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Thursday. The Highlanders fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 10-9.

Miya Fujimoto put in work no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and six unearned) runs off nine hits (and only one walk). Fujimoto was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Cyntiche Kouadio and Hannah Joerger did some serious damage despite the final result: Kouadio went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI, while Joerger went 3-for-5 with two RBI. Another player making a difference was Samantha Ronen, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Hayward's offense. They came up short against St. Joseph Notre Dame on Wednesday, falling 20-0. The Farmers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Piedmont's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Hayward, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Piedmont took their victory against Hayward in their previous meeting back in March by a conclusive 18-0 score. Will the Highlanders repeat their success, or do the Farmers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
