Basketball Recap: Maine East Falls Short of Lane Tech in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Maine East can now relate to. They received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 67-51 to the Lane Tech Champions. The Blue Demons have struggled against the Champions recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Maine East still got an impressive performance from Arabella Silva, who went 7-for-12 from beyond the arc on her way to 33 points and six boards. The match was Silva's ninth in a row with at least 18 points. Heidi Cortez was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.

Lane Tech's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Grace Bush, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Bush a new career-high in blocks (three). Another player making a difference was Cynthia Waller, who went 6-for-8 to rack up 14 points and seven rebounds.

Maine East's loss dropped their record down to 14-17. As for Lane Tech, they pushed their record up to 18-12 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Maine East does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Lane Tech, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-47 defeat against Glenbrook North on the 20th.
