Softball Game Preview: Gadsden Panthers vs. Las Cruces Bulldawgs

For the second straight game, Gadsden will face off against Las Cruces. The Panthers will welcome the Bulldawgs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gadsden is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

Gadsden fell victim to Las Cruces and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 12-0 to the Bulldawgs.

For Las Cruces' part, Kaia Renteria was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. Renteria has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adriana Pena, who fired off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Zaysha Hawkins was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

The win made it two in a row for Las Cruces and bumps their season record up to 11-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Gadsden, their loss dropped their record down to 5-10.
