Baseball Game Preview: Colleton Prep Academy War Hawks vs. St. John's Christian Academy Cavaliers

The Colleton Prep Academy War Hawks will venture away from home to take on the St. John's Christian Academy Cavaliers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Colleton Prep Academy has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while St. John's Christian Academy will arrive with three straight wins.

Colleton Prep Academy came up short against Andrew Jackson Academy on Wednesday, falling 12-2.

Colleton Prep Academy saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Coldin Lyle, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, St. John's Christian Academy won against Patrick Henry Academy on Thursday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Cavaliers beat Colleton Prep Academy by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-2.

Sumter Moorer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. St. John's Christian Academy is undefeated when Moorer posts two or more runs, but 3-5 otherwise.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aiden McCoy, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Rowdy Langdon, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

St. John's Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matchups.

St. John's Christian Academy now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Colleton Prep Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.

Colleton Prep Academy came up short against St. John's Christian Academy in their previous meeting on Tuesday, falling 7-2. Can the War Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
