Football Recap: Unatego/Franklin Comes Up Short

If Unatego/Franklin was feeling good fresh off their 53-14 takedown of Lansing last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Unatego/Franklin took a 34-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Morrisville-Eaton Mavericks on Friday.

Mason Marland was nothing short of spectacular for Morrisville-Eaton: he rushed for 109 yards and one TD on only 14 carries, and also picked up 90 receiving yards and one touchdown. Marland also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up two sacks and making five total tackles. Wesley Dimperio was in the mix as well, providing Morrisville-Eaton with two scores.

Unatego/Franklin's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Morrisville-Eaton, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Unatego/Franklin and Dryden will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 6:30 p.m. on October 24. As for Morrisville-Eaton, they will venture away from home to square off against Corinth at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
