Baseball Recap: Brookfield Comes Up Short

Brookfield and New Milford squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Brookfield had to settle for second. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Green Wave. The Bobcats' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Brookfield got a good showing from Sean Ellis, who struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Ellis has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Brookfield saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Froehlich, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Brookfield's defeat dropped their record down to 10-13. As for New Milford, they moved to 12-10 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

As of now, neither Brookfield nor the Green Wave have any future games scheduled.
