Basketball Recap: Universal Takes a Loss

Universal lost against Morgan Park Academy back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Universal Stars were dealt a 66-22 loss at the hands of the Morgan Park Academy Warriors. The Stars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Morgan Park Academy found their leader in sophomore Tiara Williams, who dropped a triple-double on 31 points, 14 boards, and 11 assists. Williams' evening made it 11 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cecelia Drown, who went 9 for 22 en route to 16 points and three steals.

Universal's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Morgan Park Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-3.

Universal will host Unity Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Morgan Park Academy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Latin at 5:00 p.m. on February 10th. Morgan Park Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Latin likes a good challenge.
