Basketball Recap: Washington Comes Up Short

After flying high against Magee last Saturday, Washington came back down to earth. The Washington Generals took a 34-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Starkville Academy Volunteers on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Generals in their matchups with the Volunteers: they've now lost four in a row.

Washington's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Starkville Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Washington will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Delta Streets Academy at 10:15 a.m. on January 7, 2025. Starkville Academy and Choctaw County will round out the year against one another at at 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
