Basketball Game Preview: Notre Dame Bulldogs vs. Charleston Bluejays

The Notre Dame Bulldogs will be taking part in a tournament against the Charleston Bluejays at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.

Last Friday, Notre Dame came up short against Sikeston and fell 62-53. While losing is never fun, Notre Dame can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 183rd, while Sikeston is ranked 16th).

Meanwhile, everything went Charleston's way against Bell City on Saturday as Charleston made off with a 65-44 win. The Bluejays have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 21 points or more this season.

Charleston found their leader in sophomore Treshaun Schandon, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 15 boards. Those 15 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Schandon. Martavious Biles was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals.

Charleston is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.8 points per game. As for Notre Dame, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-4.

Notre Dame came up short against Charleston in their previous matchup on December 6th, falling 65-59. Can Notre Dame avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
