Baseball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for Tulia

Tulia waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the River Road Wildcats. Considering the Hornets have won five games by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

David Abeyta made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jarvis Pastrana and Roberto Martinez did most of the damage at the plate: Pastrana went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Martinez went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Pastrana is also crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Zach Trevino, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Tulia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Tulia's record is now 8-5. As for River Road, their loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-7.
