Preview: Leland Comets vs. Benzie Central Huskies
Leland is 0-10 against Benzie Central since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Leland Comets will head out on the road to square off against the Benzie Central Huskies at 7:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Leland has struggled recently with nine losses in a row, while Benzie Central will arrive with ten straight victories.
Last Tuesday, Leland had to suffer through a rough 70-25 loss at the hands of Glen Lake. While losing is never fun, Leland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 688th, while Glen Lake is ranked 150th).
Meanwhile, Benzie Central strolled past Frankfort with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 53-39.
Leland's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Benzie Central, their victory bumped their record up to 14-2.
Leland took a serious blow against Benzie Central in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 61-23. Can Leland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
