Baseball Game Preview: Durant Wildcats vs. Tipton Tigers

For the second straight game, Durant will face off against Tipton. The Wildcats will take on the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Durant will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Durant got their first taste of in-conference action on Monday and they started things off strong. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over Tipton. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Wildcats have posted since June 6, 2024.

Seamus Devine made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

Devine wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Owen Collier, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Durant's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Tipton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
