Soccer Game Preview: Valor Christian vs. Fossil Ridge

The Valor Christian Eagles will challenge the Fossil Ridge SaberCats at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Valor Christian sitting on three straight victories and Fossil Ridge on seven.

Valor Christian is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They never let Mountain Vista get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. Valor Christian's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three matches.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Riley Bogdan, who's now up to three this season.

Meanwhile, Fossil Ridge faced Ralston Valley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the SaberCats who were credited with the victory. Fossil Ridge got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to Ralston Valley's two.

Fossil Ridge was without their leading scorer, Lily Wale, in Monday's game. With Wale sitting this one out, Shay Masters got some extra time on the pitch (110 vs. her season average of 69.7).

Fossil Ridge's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-1-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those four contests. As for Valor Christian, their win bumped their record up to 11-3-2.
